Hyun Bin Filmography

I won't definitely let Son Yejin's other half left behind!---and yes, 'her other half'. 😜 Whether you're a BinJin stan or not, I would claim them either way because they are a showbiz couple--is the confirmation coming anytime soon? ;) Anyhow! Here's my 2 cents of all Hyun Bin's films over his past 17 years in the entertainment industry. I didn't expect that he only got a few movies back then as I think that he might've invested more on drama series. Nonetheless, I got to say that his works are merely on the action/drama genre and SYJ was on point in commending this handsome oppa that he always has a sweet, calming tone on his action film roles.😆

Here are his lead act projects (in chronological order as usual to prevent from being biased!). Expect some CLOY and Yejin-related bits as you read along--my BinJin fan heart couldn't help it while I was working on this ;p
DISCLAIMER: all thoughts are of my own.

A Millionaire's First Love (10/10)
The first Binsshii film on my list while I was looking for that scene where he played as a housemaid (and I kept rewinding that part!🤣) . The story has some similarities from Nicholas Sparks' "A Walk to Remember" in which there's this bad-ass rich guy who fell in love with a simple kind-hearted girl who changed his attitude, a school play in the making, and the girl's goal to fulfil her wish. Likewise, it made me feel like I was reading a heartfelt novel filled with laughter, love and a tinge of melancholy. I cannot believe that HB's movies can also make me cry just like Son Yejin's! OMG 😭
I highly recommend this---but prepare your hearts!

I am Happy (5/10)
Many who have watched this found it very tragic and depressing and I couldn't agree more! ;( Besides that I dislike these kind of stories, there were some malpractices that I've observed from a medical perspective; i.e how the nurse emptied her dad's catheter, the emergency code scene and most of all, the electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) that Man-soo got--I cringe.🤦🏻‍♀️ I know that it might not be a big deal but my medical angst can be different when you know what happens in real life. Though on the other hand, Binsshii did so well with his acting as a psychiatric patient. One's happy soul can sometimes be destroyed by disheartened creatures.

Late Autumn (6/10)
Guessed I expected too much with this film after reading the synopsis and other critics because the story seemed deep and abstract, I found it hard to comprehend 🤯 The concept was good at first--a girl from prison met a gigolo during her 72-hr furlough in which they've explored Seattle together. The latter part just went tedious until the ending leaving me confused; Is that how it ends?! 🤯 Though, lets appreciate HB's english-speaking skills there. I didn't see it coming that the whole film would go multilingual which somehow pulled through. Such that, this reminds me of those Black Sheep movie productions in the Philippines (i.e "Excessed Baggage", "Alone Together",etc).

Come Rain, Come Shine (3/10)
I'm really sorry for the low rating that I could even give it a 1 only because of Hyun Bin's presence in it!🥺 It was so plain and boring with 104 minutes of watching a woman packed her stuff on a rainy day as she leaves her husband for good. There were a bunch of quiet scenes, some strange ones involving their neighbors and a lost kitten but mainly, it just circulates on how they'll conclude their relationship despite reminiscing the past.

The Fatal Encounter(7/10)
Such ancient historical vibes are not really my type but HB suits his character here. King Jeongjo is fierce and hot which shows his masculine curves at the beginning. 🔥 The plot covers various flashbacks of how his people came up with a plan to steal his throne. From swordfights to ancient Korean rituals, this movie might make you wanna wear a Hanbok (traditional Korean dress)! No wonder, this has won out of its good art production 👏🏻

Confidential Assignment (9/10)
This is like a mix of TN & CLOY after watching both shows beforehand. There were a bunch of familiar faces here from CLOY like Director Ri who still remains as a North Korean officer together with our charming Imm Cheol Ryeong (my fav HB character!) 😍 And remember the guy from SYJ's "The Truth Beneath" and "My Wife Got Married"? Nope, he ain't a shagger but he's the villain this time! I enjoyed the movie a lot with its action-comedy concept despite some dull convo scenes. And also, why do I have a feeling that the background tune is similar to the one from "The Negotiation"?!Haha😌

The Swindlers (10/10)
I thought I predicted its ending correctly but wow, there were loads of plot twists! I enjoyed the movie which reminds me of "Charlie's Angels". And since I often get attracted to men wearing suit & tie, Hwang Ji-Sung is one good-looking con man 🖤

“When a male and female actor usually meets, there is a lot of romance, but we met as an enemy. I did not know that we would meet like this."- Son Yejin (Newsis,2018)
The Negotiation (9/10)
See my Son Ye Jin Filmography as I've been mentioning this movie over and over again! #LongLiveBinJin 🖤

Their bickering about the girls of the Joseon dynasty quickly gave me a thought of none other than Princess Deokhye, The Last Princess. Maybe in another life, it's she and Lee Chung that's meant to be.🖤
Rampant (7/10)
I wonder if Netflix' "Kingdom" got its inspiration from this film?! Its content is almost the same having a fury between humans and night demons. Yet there's a lot of lessons learned here from our crown prince Lee Chung. A man's got to lead his dear land! ;) Son Yejin was invited to watch this on premiere night and I wonder how she found the movie. Hmm~

Hence, that's all for our best boy Hyun Bin for now! I'm looking forward to his upcoming film, "Bargaining" which took place in Jordan recently. Is he gonna be the best senior inspector like our dear Ha Chae Yoon?! 🤭 And since it's his birthmonth, let me share the layout that I've done during SigriswilPH' cake design contest ☺️

"Airmail for Kim Tae Pyung"--I arrived with that concept as most people (esp the ones from the younger age group) from the fandom were sending postcards to each other so why not create one for our dear man through cake ☺️ I created the whole design and I couldn't be any prouder making the post-stamps inspired graphics containing all HB's projects.

In fact, I would like to auction these as stickers if given the chance. Nevertheless, thank you again to my SigriswilPH fam for letting me win 3rd. 🖤

What else can I say? Hyun Bin is my first ever favorite oppa while as for Unnie Son YeJin...

#HAPPYBINDAY 🖤
