I may not be hitting the beach this summer vacay, but I went out-of-country!Last Friday(040513),me and my family went to Singapore for a couple of days.It was all our first time and wow, I didn't expect it to be so much fun. From mixed raced fusions to the tidiest roads (not to mention that they are really strict. As in 'no littering','no spitting' and 'no chewing gum' or else, there's a fine.)--Everything seems to be in peace & order!Pretty much, this has been the safest country I've ever visited so far ♥
We stayed at Summerview Hotel at Bencoolen St. wherein the popular Bugis Junction is located with just a few blocks from it. Across the area also was Xan Lim Square where you can buy cheap gadgets.Moving on, it was lunchtime when we've landed there so we tried out some authentic Singaporean food at Bugis Market. Here's what I had for lunch:
(S$3)Teotew Dumpling Soup :) Although here's something that they've been lining-up for: the GIANT SQUID.
Bugis Junction is one of the well-known night markets in town. It's commonly the place where they sell souvenirs especially the ever-famous "I LOVE SG" relics.
From the main street,we head on to Little India which is a 15-minute walk from our hotel. Since the nation is home to several races such as the Malays,Chinese and Indians, they each have their own distinctive towns there like across the long street of Little India lies Chinatown. Having said that, there's even a place for the Pinoys(which will be mentioned further later :) ).But back to the Indian town---
All I can say is that the whole town is filled with their own business and culture. We stepped into one of their malls and boy, they were selling tons of golden materials (and I dare not to look at the price anymore.LOL). Yet their market was fine---aside that it's cheap, their designs are so genuine in which it's hard to find at the main street. Other than that, well,it's "Namaste here-and-there" plus solid 5-6 interest action. Hahaha!
Another shopping district that we went to is Orchard Road aka the long road of branded items!
It was all grand and everything when we entered some of the shops. They were really expensive however, they go on SALE during the whole month of July.So if you feel like shopping for branded stuff, this is definitely the place to be. You can also find Lucky Plaza here which is the Filipino district that I was talking about.
'Greenhills meets Miranda Mall'.Filipinos are everywhere and they do sell gadgets too (but still, you can't ask for a lower price for the items like 'making tawad' in Manila).Anyway, more pictures of random shops are in my facebook :)
Of course, one of the best go-to areas in SG is the Marina Bay Sands.Well, you certainly can't say that you went to Singapore without seeing the famous Merlion statue!!
I wanna ride that Singapore Flyer so bad but I wasn't able to 'cause my folks doesn't want to ride it.ughhh.well,i swear that i'm coming back here soon!. ;l
It's a happy atmosphere to walk around here! :)
And this is one tempting ice cream parlor around the corner.Haha!
In terms of food, these are some specialties that we tried during our stay at the country and believe me,it was heavenly tasty!
garlic pork.♥
napoleon bolognese and chicken rice.♥
and chili crab (my fave!)♥
